Photography without a Camera

These photographic images were created using a piece of photographic paper and one or more objects. The “Heineckens” were inspired by Robert Heinecken, who often used pieces of magazine paper to create images. The paper is thin enough to allow light to pass through, creating a “double exposure” in which both sides of the paper are depicted in the print. The photograms were made with objects (feathers, plants, cut cardboard) placed on photographic paper. The object prevents the light partially or entirely from reaching the paper, leaving a mark. The color was added digitally.
